WuXi Biologics, an open-access R&D capability and technology platform company dedicated to biologics and a WuXi AppTec company, has announced the opening of a new commercial-scale cGMP biologics perfusion manufacturing facility in Wuxi city, China.
In April 2015 WuXi Biologics announced plans to build a $150 million commercial biologics manufacturing facility in Wuxi city. The first phase of construction is complete and commences operation today after 17 months. The new facility accommodates two 1000L disposable bioreactors for perfusion processes and is the largest perfusion biologics manufacturing facility to date inAsia implementing disposable bioreactors.
This added capacity will support WuXi's robust biologics commercial manufacturing pipeline and enable WuXi to maintain its position as the premier biologics manufacturer in China as well as a leader worldwide. The new commercial biologics manufacturing facility will also address the needs of Chinese companies as Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) system is currently being piloted.
