MG America to Showcase Latest Cartoning Machine & Serialization Solutions at PACK EXPO East

Fairfield, NJMG America, the U.S. subsidiary of MG2 of Bologna, Italy and a leading supplier of processing and packaging equipment, will showcase its Kartos I/100 Cartoner, ACE-CT400 and ACE-BT300 Track & Trace units, and Planeta 100 Capsule Fillerat PACK EXPO East, February 16-18, 2015 at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Designed for an extensive variety of pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetic applications, the new Kartos I/100 Cartoner is a servo motor-driven,intermittent motionmachine with an exceedingly wide format range and a maximum output of 100 cartons per minute.  Features include an ergonomic balcony design, a compact footprint, and fast, easy changeover that can be performed without tools.  Positive carton forming and belt transmission are additional benefits.  The machine is comprised of premium Allen-Bradley components, and offers a programmable logic controller (PLC) as well as HMI.

MG America also will feature two recently introduced Coding & Verification Units for integrated serialization: the ACE-CT400 for cartonsand the ACE-BT300 for bottles.  Both can provide track & trace capabilities as thorough as unit-level.  Positive indexing and transportation is incorporated in the design of both, with servo-driven belts providing accurate speed management and position control throughout the process.

The first machine, the ACE-CT400, can handle cartons from 20x20x80mm to 120x80x200mm at a maximum speed of 400 per minute.  Coding on the unit can be performed on either side of a carton, and/or on top.  Laser printing also is available.  Carton rejection is performed via servo-driven reject button, and tamper-evident flap seal dispensers are available on an optional basis.

Its counterpart, the ACE-BT300, can handle round, square and rectangular bottles from 22-120mm in diameter at a maximum speed of 300 per minute.  Bottle coding can be performed either bottom-up or down.  The machine offers single-point adjustment for complete format changeovers, and bottle rejection is performed via linear motor-driven shaft. It has a multi-camera system employed to verify 2D Data matrices printed on individual bottles, as well as laser printing.  Remarkably, the ACE-BT300 accomplishes all this while only occupying one meter of floor space.

MG America also will showcase the MG2 Planeta 100 Continuous Motion Capsule Filler, which can produce up to 100,000 capsules/hour.  The Planeta can handle powders; pellets; microtablets; tablets; low dosages of powder to be inhaled; liquids; and herbs; and also has capsule-into-capsule capabilities. The machine’s versatile modular design features two dosing stations that can accommodate different dosing, and its industrial PC is equipped with a color monitor, Windows NT, and an operator-friendly interface to control all machine functions.
