GSL Biotech and VectorBuilder have formed a partnership to create a complete cloning solution, allowing customers to order their entire custom plasmids directly from VectorBuilder through GSL Biotech’s “SnapGene” software. SnapGene was created to meet the everyday needs of molecular biologists to plan, visualize, and document their cloning experiments. VectorBuilder was created as a fast and economical outsourcing alternative for plasmid cloning. Through this partnership, SnapGene customers can do the in silico work they are accustomed to doing within the software, and have the physical work fulfilled by VectorBuilder with the push of a button.
“Our vision for SnapGene has always been to accelerate scientific discovery by removing barriers to accurate cloning design and documentation. VectorBuilder complements that vision by offering physical fulfillment of the plasmids our customers design with SnapGene,” said Aline Glick, Vice President of Product Management at GSL Biotech.
According to Grace Yu, Vice President of Product Development at VectorBuilder, “We believe that labs can function most efficiently when vector cloning and virus packaging are outsourced, in the same way that we have long been accustomed to outsourcing primers and restriction enzymes. Many of our customers already use SnapGene to design their plasmids, and we are pleased to be able partner with GSL Biotech on a unique solution that provides the finished products as visualized by the software.”
