Avid Bioservices has advanced the expansion of its process development capabilities and labs, initiating demolition work at the site that will provide an additional 3,000 sq.-ft. of space.
The newly constructed lab will allow for the consolidation of cell line development, upstream process development and upstream pilot scale production in a single location with the latest equipment. Once complete, the facility will be used for on-boarding new clients for the delivery of compliant and viable biologics manufacturing processes and executing technology transfer of existing processes.
Some additional plans for the lab include bioreactor development and control systems, a higher level of automation and reporting capabilities, the tripling of the current capacity provided by benchtop bioreactor systems, and the hiring of additional process development scientists.
