ACG Announces Major Expansion of Capsule Manufacturing Capabilities

ACG Group attended CPhI North America on the heels of expansions to its capsule manufacturing capabilities. Among its other capsule production solutions including machinery, inspection and packaging, at Booth 304 the company highlighted capsule manufacturing facility openings and expansions spanning three continents.   

The manufacturing upgrades is capped by a brand new USD $91 million facility in Brazil. The factory spans an area of approximately 150,000 square feet and will generate hundreds of new jobs locally, and complies with the highest standards defined by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency ANVISA & GMP regulatory bodies. Following ACG’s acquisition of film and foil-based packaging provider Nova Nordeplast in 2017, the plant marks the second ACG manufacturing facility in the region; both will serve Latin America and neighboring regions.

Elsewhere, ACG is in the midst is expanding capsule manufacturing facilities in both Croatia and India. The Croatia upgrade is a four-phase, $50 million project that will increase annual capacity from 11 billion to 18 billion. Two phases are currently complete, with the remaining two anticipated for 2021. The expansion will allow for expedited deliveries of hard gelatin capsules in Europe and the greater Russia region.

In India, an expansion a just underway to expand a gelatin & HPMC capsule manufacturing facility that is already an impressive 215,000 square feet, and has a capacity of some 23 billion capsules annually. Vital considering ACG’s position as India’s top provider of capsules, the new expansion and upgrade project is expected to be completed in 2021.
