Factory-CRO Group has announced Sapna Hornyak as its new president and CEO and the appointment of Nick Thornton to chairman of its board of directors. The Factory-CRO Group was formed by combining CROs focused on medical device and novel technologies: Boston Biomedical Associates, Clinical Device Group, Factory-CRO, Five Corners, and MileStone Research Organization.
Hornyak, who previously led the device and diagnostics practice for a top 10 CRO, brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in clinical research and medical device development. Thornton is the co-founder of a private equity firm and a veteran in the clinical research industry. As CEO and board chairman respectively, Hornyak and Thornton will support the company’s strategic initiative to solidify Factory-CRO Group as the leading, global CRO focused on medical devices and novel technologies.
“We are very fortunate to have a person of Sapna’s caliber leading the organization,” Thornton said. “Factory-CRO Group is at a critical growth point globally. The combination of these organizations now brings scale with a seamless global reach that we will continue to expand upon.”
Factory-CRO Group founders will remain actively involved in the organization. With teams of regional industry experts, the company is the only CRO that focuses on the unique requirements necessary to efficiently advance medical device, IVD, combination, and biologic products while specializing in international regulatory requirements.
“After many years helping companies drive device development, I am excited to contribute my experience to advance our company’s strategic objectives,” said Hornyak. “With our strong focus on cardiovascular, orthopedic, and urology product development amongst others, Factory-CRO Group has the focus, expertise, and global regulatory experience to guide clients efficiently to product approval.”
