BioSpring Launches Major Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Facility in Germany

BioSpring announced the development of a pharmaceutical facility dedicated to nucleic acid-based therapeutics in Offenbach. This expansion marks a significant milestone for both the company and Germany’s rapidly growing biotech sector.

The new facility, located on the Offenbach Innovation Campus, will focus on the large-scale production of synthetic DNA and RNA fragments—known as oligonucleotides—used in advanced therapies for cancer, genetic, and metabolic diseases. BioSpring’s investment is set to triple its production space in the region, with the company acquiring over 30,000 square meters for three additional production units. The expansion is expected to create up to 1,500 new jobs, reinforcing Offenbach’s status as a biotech hub.

BioSpring’s leadership emphasized the facility’s role in meeting surging global demand for high-quality nucleic acids, which are essential for next-generation medicines, including gene editing and mRNA-based therapies. The company’s CEO, Dr. Sylvia Wojczewski, highlighted the strategic importance of the project: “This expansion allows us to fully exploit our growth potential and further strengthen Germany’s position as a leader in innovative therapeutics”.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the facility poised to become one of the world’s largest for nucleic acid-based pharmaceutical ingredients.
