Advarra Expands its Study Collaboration Solution to Improve Study Startup

Advarra announced a major expansion of its Study Collaboration solution, the only study startup technology purpose-built to improve coordination between all clinical trial stakeholders. The expansion introduces guided site journeys, a novel site-facing milestone tracker that empowers research sites to manage their study startup responsibilities alongside sponsors and CROs—offering a unified and real-time view of study activation progress to improve operational efficiency and reduce delays.

The release builds on Study Collaboration’s recent integration with Advarra’s industry-leading electronic institutional review board (eIRB) system, Center for IRB Intelligence (CIRBI®), which enhanced its sponsor- and CRO-facing milestone tracking. The guided site journeys tracker underscores Advarra’s continued investment in accelerating clinical trial activation through better collaboration tools for all stakeholders. Developed in close collaboration with Advarra’s robust network of site users, guided site journeys incorporates direct input from research sites throughout the design and testing phases.

“It's truly exciting to see a company that actively incorporates end-user site feedback to build purpose-driven solutions,” said Nicholas Focil, CEO of FOMAT Medical Research.

“Too often, study startup is hampered by fragmented systems and poor communication—leaving sponsors, CROs, and sites juggling emails, spreadsheets, and status calls to stay on the same page,” said Ashley Davidson, VP, product lead of sponsor tech strategy at Advarra. “Advarra’s latest release of Study Collaboration solves this challenge with the market’s only site-facing milestone tracker aligned to the sponsor and CRO view, bringing all research team members into a single, coordinated workflow. The solution uniquely offers sponsors and CROs real-time visibility into study progress, while allowing sites the flexibility to follow and perform study startup tasks in a sequence that best maps to their internal processes. This creates a faster, more collaborative way to move studies forward.”
Accessible via single sign-on, Study Collaboration enables site staff to complete tasks that automatically update the milestone tracker. Sponsors, CROs, and sites can view updates in the shared system, ensuring transparency and alignment—and a single source of truth—across study teams.
“Study startup has long felt like a black box, but now, with Advarra’s Study Collaboration solution, we can open that box and give everyone on the study team—whether from the site, sponsor, or CRO side—the same view of clinical trial activation,” said Nancy Cleverley, SVP of operations management at AMR Clinical. “With this new level of transparency, collaboration becomes easier, timelines become clearer, and we can focus less on managing communication and more on activating studies and enrolling patients."
