Sartorius and LFB BIOMANUFACTURING have expanded their collaboration to provide biopharmaceutical clients with an integrated service offering that spans from cell line development (CLD) through to the first GMP drug substance batch. The enhanced arrangement is intended to simplify and accelerate the path to the clinic by coordinating timelines and combining the companies’ respective strengths into a single route for advancing biologic candidates. Building on a partnership launched in March 2024, Sartorius will contribute CLD expertise and master cell bank manufacturing, while LFB BIOMANUFACTURING will provide upstream and downstream process development, analytical development and testing, and GMP drug substance manufacturing.
Both companies will gain access to each other’s platforms and technologies under the expanded collaboration, which is designed to de-risk development and improve project execution for clients. Sartorius highlighted its cutting-edge CLD technologies, including a recently launched genetically engineered host cell line, as a key component of the joint offering. LFB BIOMANUFACTURING, a contract development and manufacturing organization with experience across therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies, Fc-fusions, bispecifics and other complex biologics, will leverage its manufacturing and process optimization capabilities to complement Sartorius’s CLD track record.
Sartorius noted that it has more than 15 years of commercial CLD experience, with over 330 projects completed, more than 85 programs progressing into clinical development and over 10 achieving market approval. The two companies said the strengthened partnership is aimed at supporting biologics innovators with integrated, high-quality development solutions and is built on synergies demonstrated in multiple prior joint projects. They described the new framework as a way to help advance the next generation of therapeutic proteins with greater speed and reduced risk.
