Axplora Manufacturing Sites Earn EcoVadis Ratings Across European Network

Axplora reported updated EcoVadis sustainability ratings for four of its European manufacturing sites, with one site achieving platinum status and others receiving gold and silver ratings.

The Leverkusen, Germany facility was awarded a platinum rating, placing it among the top 1% of companies assessed by EcoVadis. The Le Mans, France site received a gold rating, while facilities in Pompey and Chasse-sur-Rhône, France, each earned silver in their first individual assessments.

EcoVadis evaluates companies across four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The ratings are used by industry stakeholders to assess environmental and social performance within supply chains.

Axplora said the results reflect recent efforts to strengthen governance, improve sourcing practices, and integrate sustainability measures into manufacturing operations. At the Leverkusen site, process optimization in a large-scale manufacturing project reduced tetrahydrofuran solvent use by up to 70%, equivalent to approximately 45 metric tons of solvent and waste annually.

Sustainability metrics are increasingly influencing supplier selection in the pharmaceutical outsourcing sector, particularly as companies seek greater transparency and compliance across global manufacturing networks.

Axplora operates as a contract development and manufacturing organization focused on small molecules and antibody-drug conjugates. The company said the assessments provide external validation of its environmental and operational practices across its European network.
