Valion Bio Highlights Scale-Up And Oncology Plans For Entolimod Biodefense Platform

Valion Bio reported a set of strategic developments around its Toll‑like receptor 5 (TLR5) agonist Entolimod, underscoring plans to build an integrated biodefense and immunology platform rather than a single‑asset program.

In recent weeks, the company has continued engagement with multiple U.S. government stakeholders, including BARDA, NIAID, AFRRI and the Department of War, regarding potential development support and Strategic National Stockpile opportunities for Entolimod as a medical countermeasure for Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS). Valion Bio is also in discussions with Ukraine’s Ministry of Health following a formal request for information on possible inclusion of Entolimod in that country’s strategic reserves. No funding or procurement agreements have been finalized.

On the manufacturing side, Valion Bio’s wholly owned subsidiary Velocity Bioworks has demonstrated an approximately 200‑fold scale‑up of Entolimod production at the 50‑liter fermentation scale, which the company estimates could correspond to about 1.3 million potential human doses while meeting purity and potency specifications. Ownership of the CDMO operation is intended to support domestic supply readiness for Entolimod, future pipeline programs, and potential third‑party manufacturing work.

Beyond biodefense, Valion Bio is preparing physician‑sponsored studies of Entolimod in oncology supportive care, initially in neutropenia, and is advancing Entolasta, a next‑generation TLR5 agonist for broader immunomodulatory applications. Entolimod is being developed under the FDA’s Animal Rule for ARS, has received Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations, and has been supported by more than $140 million in prior development investment.

The company said these initiatives are designed to create multiple potential value drivers across government preparedness, manufacturing and oncology, with upcoming efforts focused on regulatory progress, clinical execution and manufacturing readiness.
