Harbour BioMed, Sinopharm Form R&D Consortium for Innovative Biologics

Harbour BioMed and China National Pharmaceutical Group announced a strategic collaboration to establish a joint innovation R&D consortium focused on advancing next-generation biologic therapies.

The Sinopharm–Harbour BioMed Innovation Consortium will target oncology, immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, and other therapeutic areas across the full drug development lifecycle. Under the agreement, both parties will co-fund research and development activities and share product rights under mutually agreed terms.

Harbour BioMed will contribute its Harbour Mice® fully human antibody technology platform and AI-enabled drug discovery capabilities to identify and optimize antibody candidates. Sinopharm will bring its clinical development expertise, large-scale manufacturing infrastructure, and commercial network to the partnership — taking responsibility for producing clinical trial materials, scaling manufacturing processes, and commercializing resulting products.

"Leveraging our globally differentiated Harbour Mice® fully human antibody technology platform and continuously expanding AI-enabled antibody discovery capabilities, we have established strategic collaborations with leading global pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer," said Dr. Jingsong Wang, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Harbour BioMed. "This partnership with Sinopharm represents another important step in advancing our 'platform + pipeline' strategy in China."

Sinopharm, which describes itself as a national leader covering the pharmaceutical industry chain from R&D through distribution, framed the deal as part of a broader push to combine independent innovation with open collaboration. "We look forward to both parties fully leveraging our respective strengths in technology, talent, platforms, and industrial chains to jointly advance the R&D and industrialization of innovative drugs," the company said in a statement.

The partnership gives Harbour BioMed deeper access to China's manufacturing and commercial infrastructure while offering Sinopharm a cutting-edge antibody discovery engine to bolster its pipeline of novel therapies.
