Eurofins CDMO Alphora has expanded its kilolab and high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredient development and manufacturing capabilities in Mississauga, Ontario, adding laboratory capacity designed to support complex small-molecule programs.
The company said the expanded laboratories will provide greater flexibility for process development, scale-up and manufacturing work involving both standard and high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients, or HPAPIs.
The new suites total 627 square feet and include walk-in fume hoods capable of supporting glass reactors up to 100 liters. The laboratories are designed to accommodate specialized equipment, including isolators, glove boxes and lyophilizers, based on individual project requirements.
Eurofins said the layout is intended to support efficient execution across a broad range of programs, from early development through manufacturing readiness. The expanded space is supported by a dedicated analytical laboratory and an adjacent GMP warehouse, creating an integrated setting for development workflows, analytical support, material management and production preparation.
The investment builds on the company’s existing small-molecule development and manufacturing services, which include process research and development, analytical development, GMP manufacturing and commercialization support.
Eurofins CDMO Alphora said the additional capabilities will help it manage increasingly complex molecules and high-potency compounds while maintaining an emphasis on quality, safety and operational execution. The company did not disclose the financial size of the expansion.
The upgraded capacity also supports the site’s integrated antibody-drug conjugate, or ADC, offering. Eurofins said it can produce linkers and payloads for conjugation with monoclonal antibodies manufactured at the same site, a model intended to reduce timelines and supply-chain complexity for ADC programs.
High-potency APIs require specialized containment, handling and manufacturing controls because of their biological activity at low doses. Eurofins said the flexible laboratory configuration will allow it to adapt equipment and workflows to the needs of projects involving both high-potency and non-high-potency materials.
The Mississauga expansion is part of the company’s effort to meet demand for specialized pharmaceutical development and manufacturing services. Eurofins CDMO Alphora said the enlarged kilolab and HPAPI capabilities will provide clients with added support as they advance programs through development, scale-up and commercial manufacturing preparation.
