Piramal Pharma Ltd. has completed the acquisition of an additional 40.67% stake in Hyderabad-based biologics contract development and manufacturing organization Yapan Bio Private Ltd., raising its ownership to 74% and making the company a Piramal subsidiary.
Piramal paid aggregate cash consideration of ₹76 crore, or $7.95 million, for the additional stake. The transaction was finalized Aug. 18, 2026.
Yapan Bio specializes in process development, characterization, and Phase I and Phase II good manufacturing practice manufacturing services for vaccines and biologics. Piramal had held an investment in the company since 2021, providing it with access to capabilities across biologics development and manufacturing.
The acquisition shifts Yapan Bio from associate company status to subsidiary status, allowing Piramal to more fully integrate its large-molecule expertise into the company’s service portfolio. Yapan Bio will continue to operate within Piramal Pharma Solutions, the contract development and manufacturing organization arm of Piramal Pharma.
Piramal said the transaction supports its longer-term expansion in the biologics sector. By incorporating Yapan Bio’s capabilities into its global network, the company aims to broaden its integrated service offering and improve its ability to develop and scale complex biologic therapies.
The deal also strengthens ADCelerate, Piramal Pharma Solutions’ fixed-price integrated platform for antibody-drug conjugate development. ADCelerate is designed to streamline Phase I antibody-drug conjugate programs from research and development through GMP manufacturing in as little as 12 months.
Yapan Bio directly supports the platform, and Piramal said the acquisition will enhance its ability to bring antibody-drug conjugates to market with speed and consistency.
“This strategic investment doesn’t just fuel our long-term growth; it also puts Patient Centricity into action,” Peter DeYoung, chief executive of Piramal Global Pharma, said in a statement.
DeYoung said integrating Yapan Bio’s specialized expertise into Piramal’s global network will help partners respond to growing worldwide demand for complex biologics and support continued access to needed therapies.
