Quva Acquires CAPS 503B Sterile Compounding Product Portfolio

Quva Pharma has acquired a portfolio of sterile compounded medications from Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, or CAPS, after CAPS decided to exit the 503B sterile-compounding business.

Quva expects to begin introducing selected products from the portfolio in phases later in 2026 and to expand its offerings over the following six months. The companies said they will work together to maintain supply for U.S. hospitals during the handover.

The portfolio includes medications used in hospital care, such as cardioplegia, total parenteral nutrition and heparin, according to Michael Parden, chief executive officer of B. Braun of America. Cardioplegia is used during certain heart procedures, total parenteral nutrition delivers nutrients intravenously, and heparin is an anticoagulant.

CAPS is a B. Braun company. Parden said Quva has committed to providing employment opportunities for CAPS colleagues involved in the company’s local 503B sterile-compounding operations.

Quva operates FDA-registered 503B manufacturing facilities in New Jersey and Texas totaling more than 200,000 square feet. It also operates 100,000 square feet of distribution centers in Texas and Arizona.

The company supplies more than 3,500 hospitals and health-system customers in the United States with sterile compounded medicines. The acquisition adds products to Quva’s existing portfolio as CAPS winds down its 503B operations.

Stuart Hinchen, Quva’s chief executive officer, said the companies will work to sustain access to medications that hospitals rely on and that can be difficult to produce at scale.
