Made Scientific has acquired an 85,000-square-foot cell-therapy manufacturing facility in East Norriton, Pennsylvania, from National Resilience, expanding its U.S. East Coast footprint to approximately 145,000 square feet.
The transaction closed Sept. 18, the Princeton, New Jersey-based contract development and manufacturing organization said. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The acquired site is already operational and includes 15 qualified good manufacturing practice, or GMP, manufacturing suites across Made Scientific’s two East Coast facilities. The company said the East Norriton plant’s existing operating status allows client programs to be onboarded without the construction and qualification period typically associated with a new manufacturing site.
The facility has completed 145 GMP batches for several autologous and allogeneic programs, including CAR-T and B-cell therapies, Made Scientific said. The company expects the site to support clinical and commercial supply programs beginning in 2027.
The East Norriton plant includes eight Grade B/C cleanrooms, one Grade C ballroom and one Grade B fill-finish suite, as well as quality-control and analytical-testing laboratories and warehousing. Made Scientific said it has 30,000 square feet of available expansion space at the site, with plans that could support eight additional manufacturing ballrooms.
Made Scientific plans to add 3D bioreactor platforms of up to 200 liters, cell-harvest equipment, automated fill-finish capabilities and lyophilization capacity. The plant can support starting-material, drug-substance and drug-product manufacturing, the company said.
The acquisition expands Made Scientific’s capacity for programs involving mesenchymal stem cells, secretome, exosome and senolytic therapies, as well as immune-cell, induced pluripotent stem cell-derived and engineered-tissue products.
The company is preparing its Princeton facility for a U.S. Food and Drug Administration pre-licensure inspection in early 2027. It said the East Norriton site would follow in the inspection process.
