Astoriom has acquired Roylance Stability Storage Ltd. and Roylance Scientific Ltd., the Glasgow-based U.K. operations of life-sciences storage provider Sampled, expanding its stability-storage and biorepository services.
The acquired businesses provide stability storage and specialized services for pharmaceutical customers in the United Kingdom. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Astoriom said customers using the Glasgow site will receive storage and sample-management support through its operations, including its flagship U.K. facility in Rochdale. The company said its services include continuously monitored storage environments, inventory controls and business-continuity systems.
The acquisition adds to Astoriom’s capabilities in outsourced storage for scientific-research and consumer-product samples, materials and equipment. The company said the business will focus on maintaining continuity of service during the transition.
Astoriom has more than 30 years of experience in outsourced sample storage and technical support. It is backed by Limerston Capital, a U.K. mid-market private-equity firm, and has expanded through acquisitions during the past two years.
Earlier transactions include the purchase of U.K.-based MTS Cryo Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK, Flagship Biosciences’ biorepository solutions business in the United States, and U.S.-based Precision Stability Storage. Astoriom has also launched and expanded cryogenic-storage capacity at its Tramore facility in Ireland.
The company operates services spanning stability storage, biorepository operations, technical services and validation, business-continuity planning and disaster recovery.
Sampled said the sale allows it to focus on its core activities in biobanking, multiomics and clinical-sample management. The company is headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Astoriom Chief Executive Will Edwards said service continuity and sample integrity would be priorities during the integration. Sampled Chief Executive and Chair John DelliSanti said the Glasgow business had supported pharmaceutical customers in the U.K. for many years.
