Biodextris has appointed Clement Fourny as chief executive officer, the Laval, Quebec-based biologics contract development and manufacturing organization recently announced.
Fourny joins from SmartLabs in Boston, where he was senior vice president of commercial operations. In that role, he led the commercial organization and launched a Custom Solutions division focused on laboratory partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies in North America, according to Biodextris.
Before SmartLabs, Fourny was general manager of commercial operations and strategy at Cytiva, formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences. Biodextris said he brings more than two decades of commercial and financial leadership experience in the life sciences and healthcare sectors.
Biodextris provides development and manufacturing services for biologics. The company traces its origins to a GSK biologics development centre and works with biopharmaceutical clients across North America. Its services include manufacturing under good manufacturing practice standards.
The appointment puts an executive with experience in commercial strategy and biologics manufacturing in charge of the company. Biodextris did not outline specific operational changes associated with the leadership transition.
“His track record in building commercial organizations, securing landmark partnerships, and — above all — his ability to develop and empower teams to innovate, make him the ideal CEO to lead our next chapter,” Executive Chairman Nir Nimrodi said in the announcement.
