Vetter plans to add 10 commercial filling lines to its manufacturing network, expanding capacity for the final preparation and packaging of injectable medicines. The first new line, designed to fill pre-sterilized syringes, is already operating, the company said.
Seven of the planned lines will be installed at existing Vetter sites. A second line is expected to begin operating by the end of 2026, followed by five more aseptic production lines through 2028. The remaining three lines are planned for a new commercial manufacturing site in Saarlouis, Germany, which Vetter expects to become operational by 2031.
The phased investment will add filling capacity over several years rather than at a single site or at one time. Vetter, a contract development and manufacturing organization based in Ravensburg, Germany, provides fill-and-finish services for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies making injectable products.
Alongside the new lines, Vetter is expanding its capacity for compounding, pharmaceutical storage and visual inspection. It is also investing in cleanroom technology, automation and digital systems across its operations.
Managing Director Henryk Badack said the additions are intended to support customers’ current products and future development programs. Managing Director Carsten Press said the company’s phased approach will make capacity available as its production network expands.
The investments cover several stages of injectable drug manufacturing. Compounding prepares a product before filling, while visual inspection takes place after filling to check finished units. Storage and cleanroom operations support the handling and aseptic production of those products.
Vetter said the program is designed to increase manufacturing flexibility and support customer supply needs across international markets.
