ESTEVE Invests Over $80 Million in China Manufacturing Site

ESTEVE CDMO has invested more than $80 million to relocate, expand and modernize its manufacturing operations in China, adding a new facility in Shaoxing to its international contract development and manufacturing network.

The site includes three manufacturing workshops with a combined reaction volume of 250 cubic meters, expanding its production capacity in Asia.

Space has been reserved for more than 150 additional cubic meters of reaction volume, which could bring total capacity above 400 cubic meters. Service and utility infrastructure is already included to support that potential expansion.

The facility incorporates manufacturing automation and digital systems, including a centralized control center. It also houses warehouses, offices and supporting infrastructure.

ESTEVE CDMO said the site complements its manufacturing operations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. The company has maintained a manufacturing presence in China for more than 20 years.

Joan Petit, president of ESTEVE CDMO, said the investment brings manufacturing capabilities closer to Asian customers while drawing on expertise from the company’s wider network.

Across that network, ESTEVE CDMO offers technologies including spray drying and highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing for small-molecule drug development and production. The release described these as capabilities of the broader network rather than technologies specifically assigned to Shaoxing.

Environmental, health and safety measures were incorporated into the facility’s design and operations. The site received a “Very Good” BREEAM rating for sustainability performance and has been selected as a candidate for the BREEAM China Awards, according to the company’s announcement.
