An Interview With...Matthew Voicheck, Associate Director, Supply Solutions, Myoderm

Can you give us an overview of Myoderm and the services the company offers to the pharmaceutical industry?

Myoderm is a global organization specializing in clinical trial supply. We offer a broad range of procurement and delivery solutions for any company in need of commercial drug product for a clinical trial. With GMP facilities in both the UK and US, Myoderm has been successfully delivering drug product worldwide for nearly 30 years.

The contract services industry is always looking to enhance its offerings to current and future clients. In particular, can you describe your direct to site services? What is it specifically and how does it benefit your customers?

In addition to comparator supply, Myoderm offers an innovative service to support protocols which require open-labeled drug product. This ser-vice is a faster and less expensive alternative to the traditional clinical supply and packaging process; it also alleviates the burden and expense of having clinical sites manage sourcing and inventory, allowing them to focus on patient recruitment and retention.

We provide a dedicated team of clinical supply project managers to oversee all aspects of sourcing and delivery directly to clinical sites. Through thorough upfront planning, we ensure supply levels of NIMPs throughout the length of our clients’ studies, and warehouse the drugs and supplies at our UK or US facility. Sites, CROs, or sponsors can directly request drug as needed, and shipments are sent out the same day to meet urgent site and patient needs. Drug product is then quickly resupplied to our warehouses in a lean supply chain, which helps to dramatically decrease drug waste due to over ordering. We also handle all recall monitoring, manage lot traceability, and simplify the process by consolidating services into just one invoice.

Taking into consideration your facilities, expertise, and services, why should a pharmaceutical company choose your services over another company’s? What benefits, in addition to those mentioned above, do you provide to a potential customer that other companies don’t?

The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly becoming a global market. How can your specific set of services help a pharmaceutical company that wants to distribute a product globally?

Myoderm offers a wide range of global solutions to support each clinical study’s individual needs. Our supplier network spans the globe, offering a variety of market options for price and availability comparison, and to support local market product sourcing. Myoderm’s dedicated logistics team manages the shipment of supplies to locations worldwide from either of our UK or US facilities, as well as our global network of depot partners. We also offer internal labeling services that provide a faster and less expensive alternative to traditional clinical packaging, making open-labeled product available sooner for global sites.

Looking ahead are there specific products and/or services that you will be adding to your portfolio to further enhance your company’s value to current and future clients? How do you plan on improving you direct to site services to further the goals of your customers?

We’re always looking for new opportunities to better serve our clients and the clinical trial industry as a whole. We have a few exciting enhancements that have taken place within just the last year. The first being the opening of our new UK facility. On-site labeling capabilities allow us to design and package site/patient kits with a combination of drug and ancillary supplies, expediting the delivery of these products (in comparison to the traditional clinical trial packaging model). Kits can be customized and assembled based on the unique requirements for each protocol.

In addition, Myoderm has partnered with an industry-leading clinical trial forecasting company. This provides our clients options for more detailed, more efficient, and more effective drug supply planning. We are also in the process of launching a custom-built ERP system to allow for quicker access to product information, faster proposal generation, and a global interface to support our expansion.

Lastly, we will continue to expand our depot network into additional countries. These distribution depots will allow for delivery of locally marketed product, reducing the cost and lead time of open-labeled drug supply.
