Aceto announced the acquisition of Eugene, Oregon-based Cascade Chemistry, manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), regulatory starting materials and advanced intermediates. With this acquisition, Aceto now provides customers enhanced support throughout the drug development process and greater access to expanded North American manufacturing, particularly for APIs and advanced intermediates.
Cascade Chemistry is a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specializes in tackling challenging synthetic problems for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, helping clients develop new APIs and move them through the regulatory process into clinical trials. Its track record of creative problem-solving is matched by its strong customer orientation. The company has extensive experience in synthetic route optimization, process development, and scale-up of APIs and process intermediates, with differentiated expertise in producing alkaloids, heterocycles, steroids, terpenes, prostaglandins, phenylacetylenes, and chiral syntheses.
Cascade Chemistry recently announced the construction of new state-of-the-art facilities which will triple manufacturing capacity for APIs for clinical trials and ultimately commercial production. The new facility is expected to be operational in 2022 and will significantly add to the combined entity’s GMP capacity and scale.
