Codis Completes Nottingham Deal to Expand Europe’s Spray Dry Network

Codis has completed its acquisition of Catalent’s Nottingham, UK facility, a move that expands the company’s integrated spray dry offering in Europe and adds oral solid dose development and small-scale commercial manufacturing capabilities. The company said the deal creates a more complete pathway from development through clinical supply, commercial intermediates and final oral dose forms.

The Nottingham site brings more than two decades of formulation development and clinical supply expertise into Codis. Codis said the facility adds development-scale spray drying, OSD formulation, analytical services, clinical supply and small-scale commercial manufacturing under one organization and one quality system. That is intended to give customers a single partner for projects involving poorly soluble molecules and other complex formulations.

The acquisition complements Codis’ commercial-scale spray drying operations in Haverhill, UK, where the company is expanding capacity with a new GEA Pharma-SD® PSD-4 commercial spray dryer scheduled for validation in 2027. Together, the two sites create what Codis described as Europe’s most compelling end-to-end spray dry capability. The company said the combined network will improve speed, continuity and confidence for customers moving from early development to commercial manufacturing.

Codis CEO Nicolas Fortin said the Nottingham team’s scientific strength, development experience and track record of delivering high-quality spray-dried and oral solid dose solutions make it an exceptional addition to the organization. He said the combined Nottingham and Haverhill footprint creates a uniquely integrated pathway from development to commercial manufacturing. Steve Facer, SVP Sales & Marketing, said the combined offering is the fastest and lowest-risk path to unlocking a molecule’s potential.

Matthew Streeter, general manager of the Nottingham site, has joined the Codis executive team. Codis said the deal strengthens its bioavailability enhancement portfolio and supports its broader global CDMO business across pharmaceutical, consumer health, nutraceutical and OTC markets.
